You work hard to ensure your patients receive the best possible care, that means a lot to us. We want to ensure that the design of your practice streamlines your working day, so you have more time to put the patients first. It can seem expensive, overwhelming and maybe even unnecessary? If your practice is working, why fix it? Maybe this is the year you change your mind...

EXAMPLE BLOG POST- Quinta-ssentially Madeira

Holidaying in a hotel is an amazing experience but home comfort is sometimes all you want when you’re abroad. Many people prefer to stay in smaller resorts offering privacy and a more rustic version of the country they’re exploring. Quintas are a fantastic example of this, coming from the traditional Portuguese word referring to a large house in the country or rural area, Quintas are usually large houses renovated to welcome guests. Particularly in Madeira, Quintas are a fantastic way to combine exploring new surroundings whilst embracing Portuguese tradition, they allow you to feel at the heart of Madeiran tradition. Most Quintas are decorated and furnished in traditional styles, usually rustic, warm and charming.

What are Quintas?

Quintas are country manor houses that have been restored and adapted to offer guests all the luxuries and amenities of a hotel, each with their own unique appeal. Despite the island offering a range of exceptional hotels, Quintas are ideal for those looking for accommodation which favours traditional Madeiran charm. Many original Quintas were refurbished from old chapels and churches with some still offering prayer and service to guests. Quintas allow guests to experience Madeira traditionally whilst maintaining and preserving historical heritage.

Quintas are usually unique buildings full of character that summarise Portuguese culture and charm. With room numbers closer to that of boutique hotels, guests can be assured of tranquility and respite on their luxury Madeira holidays. Usually a Quintas surrounding estate offers beautiful well-kept gardens perfect for ambling around and the intricate detailing of the rooms and interiors offer an air of class and sophistication.

Why choose a Quinta?

Quintas offer more of a personal touch than hotels, with smaller more intimate grounds, service will be tailored more specifically to each guest. The rustic and traditional charm of a Quinta is also a drawing point as culture and character can be lost in some hotels but a Quinta will guarantee you to experience Portuguese charm at its best. Less built up than most hotels, Quintas tend to also provide more of a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, with extensive farms, botanical gardens and even lakes surrounding the exteriors. Usually situated away from the bustle of town, Quintas typically provide a soothing atmosphere to relax in.

For those looking to unwind, many Quintas offer spa, health and well-being facilities and most also feature an outdoor pool. Gastronomists will enjoy the Quintas home cooked good which can be enjoyed alongside a fabulous glass of Madeira wine. With a wonderful range of Quintas located around Madeira, guests will soon find the property and location to suit them. A selection are located inland where guests can enjoy the best of Madeira's countryside and walk by vineyards, observe the native wildlife and flora or embark on a levada walk and trek up the island’s volcanic landscape.

If you are looking to explore Funchal, there are a range of quintas both nearby and in the centre allowing you to enjoy the buzz of the city then return to the serenity of your accommodation.

Our in-house tip

Our sales executive Sarah visited Madeira this year:

‘Quinta’s are more homely, they are intimate, quiet, sophisticated and oose charm. For a real traditional stay in Madeira I would choose a Quinta. What’s extra special is that the staff know who you are rather that just being a room number. They tend to be smaller than other hotels and have fewer rooms.’

Our recommendations:

Quinta da Bela Vista, Funchal

Located in an elevated position with spectacular views over Funchal and the surrounding area the traditional style Quinta da Bela Vista has been restored to a luxurious standard complemented by the finest antiques. This attractive manor house has an excellent reputation for its first-class cuisine with a buffet breakfast and a varied evening menu on offer in the Avista Navios restaurant and the elegant a la carte restaurant serving international cuisine.

Quinta da Casa Branca, Funchal

Located in a quiet residential area close to shops and restaurants, boutique hotel Quinta da Casa Branca is surrounded by lush green vegetation and boasts an award winning contemporary architectural design. Offering splendid views to the mountains of Funchal as well as over the hotel’s extensive mature gardens.

Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden, Canico

Located in the centre of the charming village of Caniço, about 7km from the centre of Funchal, Quinta Splendida Wellness; Botanical Garden resides in truly stunning botanical gardens stretching over 30,000m2 and boasts more than a 1,000 plant species. Its beautiful 19th century manor house has been very carefully restored according to the original plans and furnished with a number of antiques. Where would be your perfect island escape? PRESS RELEASE EXAMPLE

Green Warrior Permaculture just launched their website with detailed insight into their organisation and their strategies for sustainability. Green Warrior Permaculture is focussed on sustainability specifically in regards to aid work, community development and overseas disaster mitigation.

More information is available at : https://greenwarriorpermaculturewordpress.com/

Through developing detailed strategies for greater sustainability, the Green Warriors are focussed on utilising local resources to help people restore their precious communities. As Steve Cran says; ‘’They grow their way out of poverty.” Specifically, training locals to become the trainers means that the community become heavily involved in their own emancipation. This not only keeps work in the local area but inspires the rest of the community to get involved, it promotes good morale and teaches people independence.

“The world's problems grow at an exponential rate so I design projects that solve problems at an exponential rate”. - Steve Cran

By training local people, designing projects for NGO’s plus monitoring and assisting with existing programmes, Green Warriors are able to help rebuild this community from every angle. Their projects can include work in disaster zones or conflict stricken areas, remote communities that require additional support and even urban developments. Each with specific and differing requirements, but the Warriors approach them with a sustainable and long term attitude. Labelling themselves as sustainability specialists, they maintain their mission is to implement real solutions for the current climate crisis humanity is facing. Instead of purely relying on money, they work upon the thesis that change can only be truly forged by people and that this change shouldn’t just be undertaken by one person. The ethos of Green Warriors is of a community fighting for change.

The website covers Steve Crans journey into Permaculture aid and why it matters. A run down of the Bali-Super farmer project and the stages of this from organising to implementation. Additionally, what the Green Warriors stand for and how people can make a difference. Steve also has a team of specialist field trainers and consultants who can consult on permaculture aid work, projects and LEISA (Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture). Plus links to wider reading on the subject are available on the website.

Summary:
Green Warrior Permaculture just launched their website focussing on Permaculture aid and eco-friendly community work in rural and deprived areas. The website includes a page titled ‘Every garden is a step forward!’
